No Day But Today

I put up this blog/journal several months ago in because I wanted to document my journey to wellness. But I was a Post-Graduate Medical Intern in *the best* internship program which basically translates to "toxic". So I always fall back to bad eating habits and never really adhere to a regular exercise regimen.

It wasn't until last night when I started feeling unrelenting abdominal pain radiating to the back. I was thisclose to asking my parents to take me to the Emergency Department, the only thing that was keeping me was that I was in Laguna and there is no way I am going to one of those LB hospitals' ED. If I'm going to the ED, it'll be Makati Medical Center, and that is an expressway away.

We were expecting an exciting day yesterday, my parents and I got up early, attended Misa Mayor, returned home to prepare the house for the Mayweather-Pacquiao Match. We initially thought of watching it in one of those hotels in the Metro but then my Mom said it's more practical to subscribe to Pay-Per-View and have a potluck at home for the rest of the family and our household staff to enjoy. So that's what we did.

I think it was that potluck that started my stomach churning. A bad mixture of pansit palabok, dark chocolate, watermelon, and a few other things (I lost track) started giving me discomfort which progressed to pain. I knew it was hyperacidity gone bad.

I downed 20mg Omeprazole and waited for the effects to kick in before asking my Dad to prepare the car to take me to Makati. Good thing the proton pump inhibitor worked. Like a charm. I felt slight relief of symptoms then fell asleep half an hour later.

Upon waking up, I knew what to do, it's time to start *really* living healthy, no more excuses.

And so here we are.
